Adding a keyboard shortcut to a menu item is a simple task thanks to Apple's Keyboard preference pane. These instructions are for OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard), but the process is the same for earlier versions of OS X, with just a few minor differences in names.

1. Launch System Preferences by clicking the System Preferences icon in the Dock, or selecting System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. Select the Keyboard preference pane (Leopard and Snow Leopard), or the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane (Tiger and earlier).
3. In the preference pane's window, click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
4. Click the plus (+) button near the bottom center of the window.
5. Use the dropdown menu to choose an application you want to add a keyboard shortcut to. For this example, I'll add a new keyboard shortcut to the Finder.
6. In the Menu Title field, type in the exact menu name as it appears in the application. I'm going to add a keyboard shortcut to the Finder for the New Burn Folder, so I'll type New Burn Folder.
7. Click once in the Keyboard Shortcut field to highlight it.
8. Add the keyboard shortcut you wish to use by typing it. I'm going to use control + shift + b (that's the control key, plus the shift key, plus the letter b key).
9. Click the Add button.
10. Close the preference pane.

To determine which Mac OS-X version you have follow the steps below:

1. Click the Apple menu item in the upper left corner

Word comes with a whole heap of keyboard shortcuts, but it also allows you to customise them for your own use.

Word 2003 for PC:

1. From the Tools menu select Customize...
2. Click on the Keyboard button on the Command tab
3. Select the Category and Command from the lists
4. This will display the existing keyboard shortcut (if any)
5. Click in the Press new shortcut key: field
6. Key your preferred shortcut
7. If your shortcut is already assigned to another command, it will be displayed
8. Select which template you want to save your changes (I recommend saving them to Normal.dot so the shortcut is available for all documents)
9. Click on Assign

Word 2004 for Mac:

1. From the Tools menu select Customize, then Customize Keyboard
2. Select the Category and Command from the lists
3. This will display the existing keyboard shortcut (if any)
4. Click in the Press new shortcut key: field
5. Key your preferred shortcut
6. If your shortcut is already assigned to another command, it will be displayed

To set up a POP account, open Outlook then follow these simple instructions:

1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts


2. Select Add a new e-mail account, then click Next


3. Select POP3 for the e-mail server type, then click Next


4. Complete the E-mail Accounts dialog box using the information sent to you by your email host


5. Click Test Account Settings to verify that your account is working. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be prompted to supply or correct it. Be sure your computer is connected to the Internet.

To set up your email account in Mac Mail v2:

1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences (⌘-,)


2. Click on the Accounts tab


3. Click on the '+' (bottom left corner)


4. Enter your details in General Information then click Continue


5. Enter your details in Incoming Mail Server Information using the information sent to you by your email host


6. Click Continue to check your connection


7. Enter your details in Outgoing Mail Server (this information is provided by your ISP, not your email host), then click Continue


8. Enter your details in Outgoing Mail Security, then click Continue


9. Review Account Summary details, then click Continue


10. At Conclusion you can either Create Another Account or click on Done
